Privacy Policy

Massed helps you track food weight from kitchen scale photos. This policy explains what information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices you have.

Information Massed handles

Massed may handle account information, scale photos, food names, weight readings, saved sessions, subscription status, analytics events, device/app diagnostics, and support messages you send us. We use this information to provide the app, analyze photos, enforce scan quotas, manage subscriptions, improve reliability, and respond to support requests.

Account and sign-in

Massed uses third-party authentication services for sign-in. Depending on how you sign in, the authentication provider and identity provider you choose may handle your email address, name, user ID, authentication tokens, and related security data. We use your account ID to authorize AI analysis, connect subscription status, and keep scan limits tied to the right user.

Photos and AI analysis

When you ask Massed to analyze a photo, the app compresses the image and sends it to the Massed analysis backend. The backend sends the image and prompt context to an AI vision provider so the model can read the scale display, identify the food, and return structured results. Prompt context may include food names, brief descriptions, before/after context, and your saved corrections when needed for the feature you requested.

The AI analysis provider may change as the product evolves. Do not include sensitive information in scale photos unless you are comfortable sending that image for analysis.

Saved sessions and local storage

Your food items, weights, before/after results, corrections, onboarding state, trial state, and session history are stored on your device for app use. Copies of photos and related media used by saved sessions are stored in the app's local documents storage. Deleting a session removes the app's saved copy of that session and its app-managed image files when possible. Massed does not delete the original photo from your photo library.

Subscriptions and purchases

Massed uses third-party subscription and app marketplace services to manage purchases, subscriptions, restores, and Pro entitlement status. We may send subscription providers your app user ID and sign-in provider so subscription status can be connected to your Massed account. Payment details are handled by the app marketplace or payment provider and are not received by Massed.

Analytics and experiments

Massed may use third-party analytics services for privacy-conscious analytics, feature flags, and onboarding experiments. Analytics may include events such as onboarding steps, paywall views, plan selections, app version, device information, and related diagnostics. We use analytics to understand app usage, improve reliability, and decide which onboarding and product flows work better. Analytics are not used to sell your personal information.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with service providers that help operate Massed, including authentication providers, AI analysis providers, hosting and backend infrastructure providers, quota/rate-limit storage providers, analytics providers, subscription providers, app stores, and support tools. These providers process information for the purposes described in this policy.

Retention and deletion

Local sessions and photos remain on your device until you delete them in the app, uninstall the app, or clear app data. Account, subscription, analytics, quota, support, and backend records may be retained as needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve the product. Some provider records are governed by the retention policies of those providers.

You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy help. We may need to verify your identity before acting on account-related requests.

Your choices

  • You can review and edit weights before saving them.
  • You can delete saved sessions in the app.
  • You can sign out or uninstall the app to stop local use.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the app marketplace.
  • You can contact us about account deletion or privacy requests.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information handled by Massed. No app, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children

Massed is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Massed, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Massed changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above or provide another appropriate notice.
